Countrytown in partnership with KIX Country is proud to announce Hinterland as this week’s ‘Centre Stage’ artist. Every week we'll be shining a light on a single artist across all platforms including online features, airplay, and social support.
Hinterland made a huge impression when they burst onto the country music scene in 2020 with 3 hit singles: the pop-laden country jam In The Hinterland, which went to #1 on Tamworth radio, the Celtic-influenced Turbulence with its equally epic music video and the slightly heavier, 80s rock influenced Loud. Their sound is one of a kind – an eclectic blend of the band’s strongest influences such as The Corrs, Fleetwood Mac, The Chicks, Brad Paisley and Zac Brown Band – always showcasing the incredible talents of these amazing musicians.
2021 saw the band expanding their team, signing a management deal with Karen-Lee Goody of Entertainment Consulting and extending their partnership with SGC Media to release the single Giddy Up. The track proved another huge success - added to high rotation across radio and CMT, a Top 10 national airplay smash that landed them coveted country music festival slots including Savannah In The Round, Bush To Bay and Groundwater. In 2022, they have just released their 5th single Treating Me Good accompanied by a hilarious music video shot in Brisbane and the Gold Coast showcasing the band’s sense of humour and storytelling ability.
Based on the Gold Coast, Hinterland are Rachel Bostock on the violin and vocals, her brother Robbie Bostock on lead guitar and vocals and Jesse Emmanuel on rhythm guitar and vocals. All 3 members are award-winning songwriters for previous projects – Rachel & Robbie’s family band The Bostocks, Jesse’s solo albums (which were produced by Robbie himself) and also collaborations with fellow artists. Jesse co-wrote 3 singles for young singer Taylor Moss – most notably Ain’t No Girly Girl which to date has been streamed over 2 million times - and up and comer Sabrina Durante’s debut Glad It’s Not Me. Robbie won the 2019 National Songwriting Award for an instrumental. Rachel has amassed several million views online with her stunning violin rendition of The Last Post and is a three-time Golden Fiddle winner.
Together they are an unstoppable team – masters of their instruments, perfectionists with their craft with years of industry and onstage experience under their belts. The combination of showstopping musicianship, catchy melodies, dreamy harmonies and epic guitar and violin riffs and solos make Hinterland a standout act to watch.
The band have had a massive couple of years with no less than six Countrytown Hot 50 charting hits. Their current single, Strings Attached combines country, pop and rock musical elements with a Lizzo-esque sass on the verses and a soaring sing-along chorus. Driven by electric fiddle and dirty guitar tones, Strings Attached could be the ultimate summer jam for country-pop lovers who are sick of the Tinder life and ready to settle down with a real cowboy or girl.
