Conner Smith Announces Surprise Record ‘Stories I’ve Never Told - Acoustic Tapes’

With nothing but a guitar and a stack of brutally honest songs, Conner Smith is about to release his most personal project yet.

Country riser Conner Smith is hitting reset. The Nashville singer-songwriter has announced a brand new acoustic project, Stories I’ve Never Told – Acoustic Tapes, arriving Friday, March 13.

The 10 track collection sees Smith pulling things right back to the basics, trading big production for stripped-down performances that put the songwriting front and centre and showcases the storytelling.

Clocking in at around 41 minutes, the project opens the door into a much more personal side of Smith, with six of the album’s tracks being written entirely by Smith himself.

The record grew out of a period where Smith stepped away from the noise and focused on writing the way many country artists start: alone with a guitar.

“I'm incredibly proud of these songs – they're real, they're honest and a true representation of my artistry and songwriting,” shared Smith. “Last year, I found myself getting back to the basics and wrote hundreds of songs alone with my guitar. This project is ten of my favorites from that time, recorded exactly as they were written. Just me and my guitar.”

That approach runs through the entire collection. Songs like Ain't Got Enough Faith, Man I Was Made To Be and South Of It highlight the kind of introspective songwriting that has helped Smith build a reputation as one of Nashville’s most promising young voices.

Themes of faith, identity, relationships and self-reflection sit at the core of the project, giving fans a clearer look at the artist behind the radio singles.

The project also includes a cover of Free from Zac Brown Band.

For Smith, the release also signals the start of a bigger creative chapter. With more music already in the works for later this year, Stories I’ve Never Told – Acoustic Tapes feels like both a reset and a statement: sometimes the most powerful songs are the ones that start with nothing more than a voice, a guitar, and something real to say.
