Chris Stapleton, Gabby Barrett Lead Country Genre At American Music Awards Nominations

The 2021 American Music Awards nominees have been announced, with Chris Stapleton and Gabby Barrett leading with three nominations each in the country categories.

Stapleton is up for ‘Favourite Male Country Artist’, ‘Favourite Country Album’ for Starting Over and ‘Favourite Country Song’ for Starting Over. Meanwhile, Barrett received nods for ‘Favourite Female Country Artist’, ‘Favourite Country Album’ for Goldmine and ‘Favourite Country Song’ for The Good Ones.

Taylor Swift also received three nods including ‘Artist Of The Year’, ‘Favourite Female Pop Artist’ and ‘Favourite Pop Album’ for evermore.

Carrie Underwood, Luke Bryan, Luke Combs and Morgan Wallen all scored two nominations. Underwood for ‘Favourite Female Country Artist’ and ‘Favourite Inspirational Artist’; Bryan for ‘Favourite Male Country Artist’ and ‘Favourite Country Album’ for Born Here Live Here Die Here; Combs for ‘Favourite Male Country Artist’ and ‘Favourite Country Song’ for Forever After All; and Wallen for ‘Favourite Male Country Artist’ and ‘Favourite Country Album’ for Dangerous: The Double Album.

As well as Stapleton, Bryan, Combs and Wallen; Jason Aldean will compete for ‘Favourite Male Country Artist’. Kacey Musgraves, Maren Morris and Miranda Lambert will vie for ‘Favourite Female Country Artist’ against Barrett and Underwood.

Up for ‘Favourite Country Duo or Group’ is Dan + Shay, Florida Georgia Line, Lady A, Old Dominion and Zac Brown Band.

Lee Brice’s Hey World scores a nod for ‘Favourite Country Album’ too, and also nominated for ‘Favourite Country Song’ is Chris Young and Kane Brown’s Famous Friends and Walker Hayes’ Fancy Like. Lil Nas X’s MONTERO (Call Me By Your Name) also scored a nomination for ‘Favourite Music Video’.

The winners of the 2021 American Music Awards will be announced on November 21.
