Seven-time Grammy Award-winner Carrie Underwood is set to release an album of gospel hymns called My Savior, on March 26 digitally and CD, followed by a vinyl edition on April 30. The album is co-produced by Underwood and David Garcia, whom co-produced her critically acclaimed 2018 album Cry Pretty.
My Savior, which consists of covers of traditional gospel hymns Underwood grew up singing, is a spiritual companion to her recent Christmas album My Gift. My Gift topped the Country, Christian and Holiday album charts and featured guest appearances from John Legend and her oldest son Isaiah.
Underwood says, “It’s been such a blessing to make music like this, inspirational music that is near and dear to my heart. These two albums have been on my musical bucket list since the beginning of my career and were planned long before the events of the past year, but somehow it feels like the perfect time to share these beloved songs with the world.”
She shared one of the tracks, titled, Softly and Tenderly on February 12.

She adds, “When I set out to choose these songs, I wanted to include the beautiful familiar hymns I grew up singing in church. There are several songs I have performed in the past, like Softly and Tenderly, How Great Thou Art and Amazing Grace that mean so much to me!”
“This music shaped who I am as a person and is the foundation of my career as a recording artist. I feel so blessed to get to share these songs with generations of people who love them as I do, as well as others who might be experiencing them for the first time.”
Underwood rose to fame after winning the 2005 season of American Idol. She has since gone on to sell more than 64 million records worldwide and had 3 ARIA top 10 albums, including her seventh album Cry Pretty, which peaked at #4 on the ARIA Albums Chart. She has won over 100 major awards, and, as of 2020, is the only female to ever win ‘Entertainer of the Year’ three times at the ACM Awards.
As well as her music, in 2015 she launched her fitness and lifestyle brand, CALIA by Carrie Underwood. More recently, last year she published her first book, ‘FIND YOUR PATH: Honor your body, fuel your soul, and get strong with the fit52 life’ as well as the fitness app, fit52 in the same month.
