Bud RokeskyIf you’ve been following Bud Rokesky over the last few years, you’ll know he’s not interested in tidy little stories or easy answers. The Australian alt-country favourite has announced his brand new album Dusk is due out Friday 8 April, and it sounds like he’s leaning all the way into the messiness of life.
The 14-track album follows up to his acclaimed 2023 debut Outsider that first put Rokesky firmly on the map. This time around, Dusk is described as a full world you step into, populated by characters, memories, and moments that sit somewhere between the real and the imagined.
“The album is called Dusk because it’s about endings,” says Rokesky. “There are so many endings that happen throughout it”. Those endings stretch across relationships, mortality, the environment, and the quiet turning points that shape a life. There are “ghosts in this album, both literal and metaphorical”, alongside grounded, everyday scenes that unravel just enough to spark bittersweet growth.
Sonically, Dusk has already been teased through singles like Hey Now and an intimate take on Joy Division’s Love Will Tear Us Apart. Yesterday, Rokesky added another piece to the puzzle with 45, a track that’s deceptively playful but quietly urgent. It borrows the feel good energy of mass pop and then flips it on its head.

Bud explains, “45 is a compact little manifesto: equal parts resignation and dare. On the surface it reads as a simple question: whose life are you living? But there’s a deeper clock ticking in the background: the idea that if you don’t start choosing for yourself now, you might only realise it decades from now - when it’s too late to matter.” The track arrives alongside a music video directed by Marcus Coblyn.
To celebrate the album, Rokesky will hit the road this May for The Dusk Tour, following a few massive years of support slots and festival appearances alongside the likes of Cedric Burnside, C.W. Stoneking, Meg Washington, Tim Rogers & Sons of the East and Matt Corby.
Tickets are on sale now via Bud Rokesky’s official website.
