For those that spent hours yesterday trying to grab those elusive pre-sale Taylor Swift Eras Tour tickets, this morning has brought more hope, with Frontier Touring announcing two final shows in Sydney and Melbourne.

The Melbourne show on February 18 will mean that Swift is the first artist since Madonna in 1993 to achieve three (presumably sold out after Friday) nights at the 100,000 capacity stadium. In Sydney on February 26, the fourth show at the 83,000 capacity venue will be the first time an artist has performed four nights running.

The announcement will be cold comfort for Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide fans who had been desperately hoping for the show to head to their towns.

Frontier have definitively dashed these hopes, confirming that these final two shows will indeed be the last announced. All remaining tickets for all shows will go live for sale tomorrow, creating another day of chaos in homes and workplaces around Australia as fans sit waiting for their place in the queue to materialise.

Scalpers on parasitic sites like Viagogo have already been selling tickets for upwards of $2500 even before the final tickets have gone on sale, testing Australia's weakly policed scalping laws. TheMusic.com.au spoke with Ticketek insiders earlier this week on the ticketing process.

“There is no doubt that there are going to be many disappointed fans given the demand for tickets,” a Ticketek spokesperson said. “We are encouraging all fans to follow our helpful tips to ensure their best chance at securing tickets, and to not purchase tickets through unauthorised resellers.” Ticketek will be the only official merchant for Australian Eras tour tickets.

The spokesperson said Ticketek will aim to “prioritise fair access to tickets for all fans”, advising those keen for tomorrow’s sale to create an account on the Ticketek website in advance and to remember not to close or refresh their browser while they wait in the queue, and keep an eye on the checkout timer at the top of their screen when they do eventually make it through.

“Despite what many fans may post on socials, queuing is not their enemy,” the spokesperson said. “This is our way of prioritising fair access to tickets for all fans. Fans must remember to not leave the Lounge page or refresh their browser. The page will refresh itself frequently to let more fans through to purchase. Once fans are in the Lounge, they should sit tight and wait to be let through to the event page. And then once they’re through they need to remember to keep an eye on the timer and complete their purchase within the time frame.”

As with yesterday, the Sydney on-sale tomorrow will commence at 10am with Melbourne shows on sale at 2pm.

Yesterday's pre-sale saw over 800,000 people in the digital queue, while demand for the earlier American Express pre-sale took the Amex site offline as fans deluged the site looking for codes to access tickets.

The Australian dates of Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour will kick off on 16 February 2024 in Melbourne and 23 February 2024 in Sydney with special guest artist, Sabrina Carpenter
