Every week, ABC Country’s Grass Roots program shines a light on the best independently released country music. Selected from the hundreds of new tracks submitted, the one-hour program is now available on demand as well as premiering each Monday at 9 pm on ABC Country, showing the health of Aussie country music across all its sub-genres. Here are three of this week's tracks you should have on your radar.

Head here to have a listen to this week’s full episode of Grass Roots.

Albert The Second - Dreamer

Albert The Second knows how to make fans feel something. On the tender new track Dreamer, the artist transports listeners to his home studio at his farm in Southwest Victoria.

Offering an acoustic-based song with heartfelt lyrics, Dreamer is a reflective, vulnerable song that Albert The Second recorded himself. It’s little wonder why he’s gathered the attention of country/indie troubadours Kim Churchill and Ash Grunwald—with his relatable songs and headlining his hometown’s festival, The Summer Gathering, Albert The Second is on the rise.

River Rose - Always Be There

Always Be There is a song for those who have felt unconditional love: parents. With her debut song, River Rose muses on the future of her child—she wonders what her son will be like at 18, while reminding him that she’ll always be around and always love him.

Hailing from South Australia, River Rose had her moving debut single produced in Nashville by Kate Malone. The emotional song is open and honest, a stunning tribute from mother to her child.

According to a statement, River Rose will release more music soon; her songs contain “a depth and authenticity that cuts straight to the heart.” If her other songs are anything like this one, we’re ready for more emotion, soul, and genuine storytelling.

ChaiChester - Blur On By

ChaiChester, a rising star from Newcastle, New South Wales, will find more fans following the release of his poignant new single, Blur On By.

Influenced by the likes of James Taylor, Jeff Buckley, and the Bee Gees, ChaiChester (aka Pat Truscott) is a natural storyteller. Growing up in a military family that consistently moved around in his early life, the singer-songwriter first picked up a guitar and started writing songs while living in Malaysia.

He describes his upbringing as “grown up on the run” after moving every year or two, so finding a sense of belonging was difficult. That’s where music came in. Blur On By, an effortlessly smooth love song, shows that music is his calling.
