Today Megan Moroney announced her third studio album Cloud 9 is set to be released on February 20 next year. We already have two songs from the project, 6 Months Later and the latest single Beautiful Things, plus it’s been revealed that the title track Cloud 9 will kick off the album as the first song.

However, the rest of the track list remains a mystery.

That is, until we noticed something interesting pop up on SESAC. A song titled I Only Miss You which was written by Moroney with long time collaborators Ben Williams, Mackenzie Carpenter and Micah Carpenter, plus one very familiar new name… you guessed it, Ed Sheeran.

We’ve seen Moroney and Sheeran cross paths and team up together a couple of times recently. First we saw Moroney join Sheeran as a special guest at the famous Bluebird Cafe in Nashville, TN back in March this year.

one day you’re singing on your apartment floor in nashville & no one really cares that much & then you blink & you’re at the bluebird playing with ed sheeran (🥹😭🫶🏼)

In October, there was a surprise intimate gig in Brooklyn, NY where the pair took turns playing acoustically and telling stories for a small group of very lucky fans.

Another hint to a possible collaborating was back In May when Moroney walked the red carpet at the American Music Awards and revealed in an interview that she’s “been really inspired by Ed Sheeran's stuff, so I would love to do a song with him...This is not me teasing anything...Me and Ed email all the time.” It was an easy comment to gloss over but now it’s starting to feel like that wishful collaboration has come to life.

It may also be a total coincidence - or none at all - that Sheeran’s latest album Play is also drenched in shades of pink. The same signature hues that defines the MM3 era. It all just feels too perfect to ignore.

So although nothing has been officially confirmed yet, the signs are clearly there and we believe that there is a strong chance that Ed Sheeran will feature on Megan Moroney’s upcoming third studio album Cloud 9. Stay tuned!
