The 2024 edition of the Golden Guitars Awards has already recorded record-breaking numbers, with the amount of submissions for next year’s event shaping up to be bigger than ever.
762 entries have been received for the upcoming 52nd Golden Guitar Awards – equal to the 2022 amount. However, with next year’s Toyota Golden Guitar Awards, the Song of the Year has recorded 135 entries, Alt-Country Album of the Year has 35 entries, Male Artist of the Year with 33 entries, Female Artist of the Year with 39 entries, and Bluegrass Recording of the Year with 23 entries.
Nominees for next year’s event will be revealed at the Tamworth Town Hall on Tuesday, 21 November, at 11 am AEDT and live-streamed via the Toyota Country Music Festival website and Facebook page. As well as the nominees’ announcement, performers for the awards night will be revealed.
The 2024 Awards will be hosted by Tania Kernaghan and Jason Owen on Saturday, 27 January, at the Tamworth Regional Entertainment and Conference Centre (TRECC). Tickets to attend the event are on sale now.
“To see a record number of entries in individual categories, as well as total entries equalling 2022’s record, is fantastic to see,” CMAA Chairman Dobe Newton said in a press release. “It shows strength in our industry and support and validation from our country music community.
“As one of the nation’s longest-running music awards, the Golden Guitars are about celebrating artists, writers, musicians, performers and their creativity, and we are excited that these numbers confirm Spotify's reporting of Australia as the world's third largest and fastest-growing country market.”

Toyota Golden Guitar Awards Executive Producer Peter Ross added, “The 52nd Golden Guitar Awards will celebrate the event’s iconic history and acknowledge the hard work of artists over the past 12 months. Some significant career milestones will be acknowledged, and the highly coveted Roll of Renown, country music’s Hall of Fame, will be presented.
“The night will also commemorate and pay tribute to some of the industry greats we’ve lost over the past year, including country music pioneer Joy McKean.”
Ross continued, “We’re excited to once again be holding an in-person industry event to announce the nominees for the 2024 Golden Guitar Awards. The event will be hosted by multi-Golden Guitar Award winner and ARIA-nominated Tania Kernaghan and 2014 Golden Guitar Award nominee Jason Owen, who will also be hosting the awards night in January.”
