The 2023 ARIA Awards went down in Sydney tonight (November 15), with the Australian Recording Industry Association (ARIA) crowning some of the most influential artists in the country.

Among the night’s biggest winners were Genesis Owusu (who landed the prestigious Album Of The Year gong for his recent second LP STRUGGLER, as well as the awards for Best Hip Hop / Rap Release and Best Independent Release), Troye Sivan (who won Best Solo Artist, as well as the publicly voted Song Of The Year award for Rush, which claimed Best Engineered Release and Best Produced Release) and G Flip (who took home two of the publicly voted awards, Best Australian Live Act and Best Video for Good Enough).

Taylor Swift won the last remaining award open for public voting – Most Popular International Artist – while Teenage Dads won the lucrative Michael Gudinski Breakthrough Award.

As for genre-based titles, Kylie Minogue won Best Pop Release for Padam Padam, with the others going to MK and Dom Dolla (Best Dance / Electronic Release for Rhyme Dust), Forest Claudette (Best Soul / R&B Release for Mess Around), King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard (Best Rock Album for Ice, Death, Planets, Lungs, Mushroom and Lava), Dan Sultan (Best Adult Contemporary Album for his self-titled effort), Fanny Lumsden (Best Country Album for Hey Dawn), Parkway Drive (Best Hard Rock / Heavy Metal album for Darker Still), The Teskey Brothers (Best Blues & Roots Album for The Winding Way) and Emma Memma (Best Children’s Album for her self-titled effort).

ARIA CEO, Annabelle Herd, said: “We are so proud of tonight’s result: a true reflection of the excellence in Australian music, a celebration of the genuinely diverse range of artists we should be thrilled to call our own, and an exciting glimpse of the sheer success our incredible industry can achieve in the near future. Congratulations to all the winners, the nominees, and everyone who supported this year’s ARIA Awards in any way. Most of all, thank you.”
