What?

Experience the spellbinding beauty of Hindustani classical music with rising sitar maestro Snehesh Nag, on his debut Australian tour.

Son and disciple of renowned sitarist Pandit Sugato Nag, and trained under sarod legend Pandit Buddhadev Dasgupta, Snehesh brings a rare and compelling blend of the Senia Shahjahanpore and Enayatkhani gharanas – two of the most respected schools in Indian classical tradition.

Snehesh’s playing is known for its emotional depth, intricate melodic development, and unpredictable creativity. His performances move with grace between meditative stillness and thrilling rhythmic intensity, offering audiences a deeply immersive listening experience.

Snehesh will be accompanied on tabla by Shen Flindell - one of Australia’s foremost exponents of the instrument. A senior disciple of the Benares Gharana since 1994, Shen is the accompanist of choice for visiting Indian classical musicians in Brisbane and beyond. He is celebrated for his beautiful sound, deeply supportive playing, and versatility across both classical and fusion traditions. The opening set will be provided by Headland who are celebrating the launch of their debut EP. Headland is the brainchild of Joseph Rabjohns and Tyler Cooney, two distinct local guitarists who have created an eccelctic mix of folk/jazz/experimental.

Don’t miss this rare opportunity to hear one of the most promising young voices in Indian classical music, as Snehesh Nag brings his refined artistry to Australian stages for the very first time. Thanks to The Junk Bar for their ongoing support of Worlds Within Worlds and Art as Catharsis.
