About the artists:
Molly Read
Describing herself as a modern-era post-pre-Raphaelite, Molly Read is an Australian/British songstress curating soft and wistful indie-lounge from her greenhouse in Meanjin/Brisbane, Australia.
Driven by the intricacies of love and interpersonal relationships, Read shapes her music with lush soundscapes adorned with profound lyricism and enchantingly delicate vocals. Her musical stylings take cues from the sounds of her upbringing, resulting in an innovative blend of jazz, bossa nova, soul, and indie. With her 2024 debut release, 'Greenhouse’, Molly Read drew comparisons to the chanteuse traditions of artists like Clairo, Hana Stretton, and Astrud Gilberto.
tuesday.
tuesday. is a Meanjin-based indie pop-rock trio weaving existential anxieties into shimmering melodies. Led by Anna Sosnowski (vocals, guitar, songwriting), with Anna Groves (bass, backing vocals) and Pete (drums, production), the band formed through open mic nights and jazz studies. Blending pop, jazz, folk, and indie rock, they deliver hard-hitting truths wrapped in disco lights and a smile. Their name captures the calm of a mid-week pause—a reflective break from life's rush.
Blue Stockings
Blue Stockings is a collaborative project formed in 2020 between vocalist Alison Paris and classical guitarist Chloe Hasson. What began as an outlet to explore classical music without the confines of the concert hall, soon developed its own unique sound at the intersection of folk music, classical-contemporary, and experimental/ambient music.
With a focus on outward movement in their creativity, the core foundations of Blue Stockings are built upon collaboration projects with featured artists. Connecting community through accessibility, live performances focus on building a comfortable and interactive atmosphere, with each performance bringing new ideas and diverse sounds.
Julia Bates
Singer-songwriter Julia Bates began performing around campfires and country shows while growing up in regional New South Wales. Since moving to Brisbane in her late teens, she has performed as a soloist and sung backing vocals for Clare Cowley and several other local artists.
Julia delivers her introspective and referential lyrics in a timbre that conveys both strength and fragility. Her songwriting and vocals draw comparisons to Laura Marling, Linda Ronstadt and Joni Mitchell. Julia's song writing poeticises the complexity of human emotion, combining vivid imagery and sincere storytelling to create an evocative listening experience.
