VIDEO PREMIERE: Zac Cross Band - 'If You Have To Know'

Queensland-based country-rock outfit Zac Cross Band have returned with a new single, If You Have To Know, and today, Countrytown premieres the music video.

The smooth love song finds the group playing their instruments and appearing in a pub surrounded by gorgeous women. A love song packed with country twang and boundless charm, the video goes from the Zac Cross Band enjoying a boy’s night to their mate getting to know his future soulmate.

At the end of the clip, they’re jumping in the pool and gathering for beers and a barbecue in the backyard. Watch until the last seconds for a cheeky little scene between bandmates.

The music video for If You Have To Know was filmed in the Zac Cross Band’s hometown of Rockhampton, Queensland, and produced by good friend and fellow country artist Josh Setterfield.

Zac said about the video, “The whole idea for the music video is a boy meets girl story, but literally my story. Ironically, the two main actors are my brother and his wife, who met the same day and at the same place as me and my fiancé!”

Reminiscing on his relationship with his fiancé – the couple are newly engaged – Zac continued, “If You Have To Know tells a part of the story of how my now fiancé and I started seeing each other. The intention of If You Have To Know is to capture the moment when you realise that this person could be the start of the rest of your life and that you want more than a kiss goodnight; you want a kiss good morning.”

“The lyrics are words that were said, the depiction of the story really happened. It can be daunting to put your life on paper and tell your story to the world, but I am proud of this story and the life it has given me.”

If You Have To Know was written by the Zac Cross Band alongside Jared Adlam (Adam Brand, Matt Cornell) at Machine Lab Recording. A song originally written five years prior to its release, the group essentially rewrote it so it could become the single we know today.

“When it came time to cut the track, I felt that the essence of the story was there, but the lyrics were outdated and needed a fresh coat of paint. Between myself and Jared, we re-wrote the song and by the end of the day, it was basically finished and recorded.”

If You Have To Know follows recent singles from the band, including Dear God and Country Got It Right.
