Tania Nichamin has shared a great new song, with a matching music video, premiering exclusively on Countrytown today.

Sometimes Love Hurts is a country anthem about heartbreak. In the music video, a couple depicted by Nichamin’s niece, Stella Morris, and family friend Kahn White relive the fun, honeymoon moments of their relationship after a breakup at the start of the clip.

Lovely, bittersweet memories are soundtracked by Nichamin’s instant classic song. She performs with heart and ease, inspiring the couple not to give up when she appears in the music video.

The clip was filmed at Kalimna Estate in Patterson, Hunter Valley, and produced by Jeremy Minnet of Eyes + Ears Creative.

Sometimes Love Hurts is the first single from Nichamin’s upcoming second album, set for release in 2027. It was also the first song she co-wrote during a life-changing trip to Nashville earlier this year, teaming up with Michael Saleta and Leslie Bowe in APRA AMCOS writing rooms.

The song was written while Nichamin experienced major life changes, including her experience of a marriage breakdown over the past year. So she channelled that experience into something inspiring for the younger women in her life when they experience their first heartbreak.

“It won’t be the first, it won’t be the worst, and sometimes love hurts,” Nichamin explained. She continued, “We all go through it. And sometimes it takes a bit to get over it. Love isn’t always how you imagined it would be. And it’s very normal to feel this way, and that just means you’re human.”

She added, “Having gone through some of the biggest changes in my life, it feels transformative. I feel stronger, so as a writer and performer, it’s had a knock-on effect; I’ve grown so much and now nothing, and no one, is stopping me.

“In this next chapter, I have never felt more empowered, and I have a new lease on life, and it’s especially true for my music. It feels different to before, like I’m free and I cannot wait to show everyone what I’ve done.”

Australian producer Sam Hawksley produced Sometimes Love Hurts. The song also features Hawksley and Andrew King on guitar, Alison Prestwood on bass, Jared Kneale on drums and pianist Dane Bryant. While the single began with heartbreak, Nichamin can now reflect on bigger changes in her life.

“I knew in my heart and in my gut that if I could just get myself to Nashville, I could make it happen,” she said. “I definitely left a piece of my heart in Nashville, and I’m so glad I did.”
