Kaitlyn Thomas’ fiery new single Mississippi Lies is a bold, gritty breakup anthem packed with attitude, southern heat, and a warning for anyone who’s ever fallen for the wrong one.
Inspired by Miranda Lambert’s iconic Kerosene, the track channels heartbreak into power, pairing powerful vocals with punchy guitar riffs and a no nonsense edge. It’s a high-energy release that leans into the pain of betrayal and turns it into something fierce.
“He had that Southern charm and a smile full of sweet talk, but it was all lies. Mississippi Lies is my warning wrapped in fire. I should’ve listened when Miranda said boys like him would burn you. Now I know better,” says Thomas.
Produced by award-winning hitmaker Jared Adlam (James Johnston, Travis Collins, Caitlyn Shadbolt), the track builds on Thomas’ signature blend of emotional storytelling, strong vocal delivery, and an unapologetic edge that sets her apart on the country music scene.
The music video also clearly draws inspiration from Lambert’s Kerosene. One noticeable nod is the “Miranda Tried” written on Thomas’ shirt, an ode to the infamous “Mama Tried” tank Lambert wears in her video. It’s a little game of spotting the easter eggs drizzled throughout the clip, making the experience all the more enjoyable for fans of both Thomas and Lambert.
Thomas has quickly earned her place as one of Australia's most promising up and coming country artists. With a standout performance at Toyota Star Maker Grand Final the Tamworth Country Music Festival, and national exposure on the hit TV show Australian Idol she’s building serious momentum.
