After years behind the scenes as a key songwriter, producer, and founding member of Darlinghurst, Golden Guitar winner Jason Resch is stepping into the solo spotlight with his debut single Talk Of The Town, a sharp, infectious track that kicks off a bold new chapter in his already impressive career.

As a creative force behind Darlinghurst’s signature sound, Resch helped lead the band to multiple charting country singles, a #1 ARIA Country Album, and a Golden Guitar Award for New Talent of the Year. Now, he’s carving out his own lane and doing it on his own terms.

Talk Of The Town draws inspiration from the everyday drama that swirls around us, the whispered stories, shifting narratives, and how gossip can often circle back around.

"I've always been fascinated by the way words travel, how something small can transform into something completely different, whether good or bad, truth or fiction,” Resch explains. “Sometimes, the truth gets in the way of a good story… but life has a funny way of sorting it all out and telling it better than we ever could."

The track was produced and mixed by MSquared (Michael Paynter and Michael Delorenzis), who Resch previously teamed up with on Darlinghurst’s 2023 Top 10 hit Pretty Doesn’t Make You Good.

“Michael Paynter and Michael Delorenzis are just phenomenal at what they do. I can't speak highly enough about MSquared, it was an absolute pleasure to work with them again,” Resch says.

The accompanying music video, directed by Ian Ritter, leans into nostalgia and imagination. Set against the cinematic backdrop of Murtoa’s iconic Stick Shed in rural Victoria, the clip follows a girl who presses play on a cassette Walkman and falls into a dreamlike world where memory and melody collide.

While Resch may be a new name to some as a solo artist, his songwriting resume is stacked. At just 18 years old he moved to the UK and joined powerhouse production team Xenomania, co-writing The Promise for Girls Aloud, a track that won Best British Single at the 2009 BRIT Awards. He also co-wrote Alesha Dixon’s global hit The Boy Does Nothing and has even written for Kylie Minogue.

His fingerprints are also on Gabriella Cilmi’s Sweet About Me, where he played guitar, and also on the Pet Shop Boys’ Grammy-nominated album contributing writing, guitar, programming, and keyboards. After a two-year stint in Nashville immersing himself in the heart of the country music scene, Resch has returned with a sound that’s polished, personal, and full of intent.

Talk Of The Town isn’t just a catchy debut, it’s a statement, distinctive, dynamic, and entirely Jason Resch.
