VIDEO PREMIERE: Felicity Urquhart & Josh Cunningham - ‘Everything Around You’

Shot at sunrise and filled with heart, Felicity Urquhart and Josh Cunningham’s latest video is as moving as the story behind it.

Fresh off the success of their ARIA #1 country album, Felicity Urquhart and Josh Cunningham are giving fans a new way to experience Everything Around You - this time through a stunning, deeply personal video for the album’s title track.

Filmed during a mid-tour stop on the NSW South Coast, the clip captures the duo performing at dawn on the sweeping hills of Bald Point, just as the sun begins to rise. It’s the kind of cinematic, quietly powerful setting that perfectly mirrors the song’s themes of connection, reflection and finding meaning in the world around you.

And while the visuals are undeniably beautiful, it’s the story behind the song that gives this release even more weight.

On shooting the clip, Josh says: "We wanted the video to feel natural, humble and give a sense of vastness and expanse. Literally, everything around us impacts who we are and how we live and we wanted the video to portray that. The morning sunrise and the aerial shots were particularly powerful images to communicate the hope and direction in the vast expanse of Everything Around Us.

The day after we released Everything Around You, the album, Felicity’s father Rex, lost his battle with cancer. Rex was a profound influence in Felicity’s life, encouraging her to be positive and look for the good in everything. In the wake of his passing the song has come to feel like an echo of his example and the guidance he provided throughout his life. He gave us his blessing insisting we tour the new album and share our stories and love of music with people.

The way this song came to life was particularly unique. Our eldest daughter had created an illustration of a compass with a rose at its centre of it and our initials at the compass points. We felt it would make a great album cover and it inspired the title Everything Around You. We knew what kind of song it needed to be and when we sat down to write it, something special happened - it felt like there was an electric force present and the song come together with a powerful immediacy.

We hope the combination of the imagery in the clip and the song itself leaves people feeling uplifted, inspired and hopeful.

We knew Gabe Coggan through his father Darren Coggan who Fliss has had a lot to do with over many years. It’s really wonderful to see the next generation of our friends and peers showing such ability and initiative in the creative space. Gabe brought all that youthful energy and talent as well as a good recommendation for a coffee after the shoot.

We’d mentioned the location as a potential option for the shoot but quite literally only days before shooting a road closure took us on a detour that went right by Stanwell Tops which gave us the chance to stop and look around. We knew right away it was the right place to shoot the clip.

As musicians, being up at sunrise isn’t all that common unless you’ve got an early flight. So being able to stand on Bald Point as the sun came up out of the sea was a reminder of what a beautiful time of day that is and it makes you feel grateful to be alive."

At its core, Everything Around You has always been about perspective, healing and the power of music to carry us through life’s biggest moments and this video leans all the way into that.
