You know if you have to leave some bangers from Riley Green, Stephen Wilson Jr and Tyler Hubbard on the cutting room floor, that the competition this week was fierce, but here’s our new music picks for this Friday!
Shaboozey feat. Kehlani - Bullets & Blades
This new Shaboozey record is really incredible. Clearly keen to put the idea that he’s a one-trick pony aside, this record is a true cowboy western soundscape that throws genre out the window. The bangers like Born To Die and Cowboy you already know, but this record takes you through a journey through everything from trad to hip hop (check out the collab with Gunna) and everything in between. It’ll have country traditionalists raging, but the range Shaboozey shows on this record is nothing short of incredible. Check out Kissed By An Angel for pure stripped-back bliss later, but we can only choose one song for The Drop, so this one’s a killer Kehlani collab, Bullets and Blade. He’s reaching for the stars with this ambitious record it’s worth your time to listen from beginning to end to judge his reach.
Dasha - Memo
Another artist who can seemingly do no wrong is Dasha. Seemingly incapable of a mis-step, Memo is another banger that will have you ordering another round of shots. There’s nothing here we haven’t heard before from Dasha, but if you’re cranking out bangers of this consistency, sometimes you don’t need to rewrite the rule book.
Josh Setterfield - We Are The Night
He might just be the hardest working man in showbiz. Queenslander Josh Setterfield has been plying his wares since his debut single Right About Now in 2021 smashed through two million streams. Coming from a rock background he knows an anthem and he’s not afraid to crank the guitars up to 11. We think this is Josh at his best— what’s better than a big country rock anthem about staying out all night?

We’ve had a few Tucker tunes on the Drop of late and today the Sunburn Mixtape was fully revealed. The whole EP is a vibe and despite sitting in this office in a sweatshirt, it makes me want to tear off my clothes and jump in the pool after ordering a mojito. Be glad we don’t have a pool, but soak in this yacht rock vibe in all its glory.
Robyn Ottolini - Other Girls
Canada’s Robyn Ottolini has struck gold with this new tune Other Girls. She had a TikTok moment in 2020 with F-150 and signed with Warner, but more recently headed back to indie land. This is a potty-mouthed delight that deserves your earholes this week.
Sarah Grace Buckley - Tequila & Mexico
We’re loving Mexico right now aren’t we? You only get your debut single once, but when you’ve had career you’ve had already with The Buckleys you’d be forgiven for thinking you can rest on your laurels. Not in this case. Tequila & Mexico is a bold and commanding statement— it’s cruisy, it’s a great tune but more than anything it shows an artist comfortable in her own skin. If you’re loving Tucker’s EP and the smooth ocean breeze of Keith Urban’s Flow State, this is one to add to your own faves playlist.
Wyatt Flores - Hate Myself
Wyatt Flores we’ve been behind this year and today his accomplished new album Scared of Heights drops. This is the first track and is a great indicator of the whole album. There’s no duds, it’s just an accomplished record delivered by a singer and songwriter who has well and truly moved out of his “new artist” stage and has arrived.
Jet Walker - Half Past Sober
Another Queenslander, Jet Walker is one of the most interesting new artists in Australia. From a small country town, he’s been flirting with hip hop more and more as the releases have flowed since his debut last year. His last record was a collab with Chillinit and this one is his most intriguing yet. It’s still clearly a country song (although I know I’d get some pushback on that from some quarters), but this is the kind of genre bending we love to see. It’s got a hip hop feel, but also one of the most epic guitar solos you’ve heard in a song for a long time. So what is it? Who cares… It’s good…
Bella Mackenzie - Second Hand Dust
Another accomplished entry into the Bella Mackenzie songbook, Second Hand Dust is probably the most country she’s been in a while. Fans will lap it up and it’s the kind of crowd pleaser that is sure to win new ones too.
Jimbo Stokes - Already Won
Jimbo Stokes is from Scone in New South Wales and has been steadily building across eight songs since 2022. This ninth is a cracker, co-written by one of our favourites Melanie Dyer. There must be an album in the wings and we can’t wait— the growth across his catalogue has been immense.
