Countrytown in partnership with KIX Country is proud to announce Sammy White as the latest ‘Centre Stage’ artist. Every fortnight, we'll be shining a light on a single artist across all platforms including online features, airplay, and social support.

Growing up in Townsville with Johnny Cash, Charley Pride and Willie Nelson on high rotation in the family home, Sammy began writing songs at 12 years old and entered talent quests to hone her craft.

She released her first single, Drowning my Sorrows, in 2019, however, it was her follow-up track, I Can’t Outrun You, that made heads turn and gain recognition on National Country Radio Airplay charts. Taking out the title of Toyota Star Maker in 2020, she then released her Top 10 ARIA debut album Undone, which included the singles Drowning My Sorrows, I Can’t Outrun You, Lay It On Me and Home (Feels Like You). Upon its release in November, Undone hit #6 on ARIA Australian Country Albums Chart and #20 on ARIA Top Country Albums Chart, quickly gaining her positive attention.

In 2022, she was nominated for ‘New Talent of the Year’ at the Golden Guitar Awards.

Sammy released her highly anticipated sophomore album, Dirty Laundry last Friday, May 26. The 14-track collection features co-writes with Melanie Dyer, Katrina Burgoyne, Bella Mackenzie, Travis Collins and her partner and fellow country music singer-songwriter Brad Cox. It also features the singles Running Away Tonight, Love On The Line, Friends With The Bottle, You Sound Like Me and Diamonds and Dolly.

Sammy says of Dirty Laundry, “We’ve all got it, right?! And there’s no better way for a songwriter to air it than turning churning out some songs and putting ‘em on a record. This album feels really special – like fireworks and Elton John, or a warm tea and patting a stranger’s dog on the street. I’m super proud of this record and the messy, dirty road these songs have travelled. Thanks to the good people who believe in me, my stories, and this wild ride we’re on. We’re all just odd socks at the bottom of the tumble dryer. And I love it. Here’s to Dirty Laundry!”
