More Jen Mize More Jen Mize

Both boldly bodacious and brazenly bad-ass, Jen Mize & The Rough N’ Tumble know how to bring the party. Mize’s sultry vocals and the eight-piece outfit’s rollicking good-time vibes and unquenchable energy pack enough punch to rock even the firmest of foundations – evident in Out the Back of the House!

Penned by Mize and her long-time bestie / partner in crime, the official RNT ‘Keeper Of The Vibe’ and guitarist Mitch Power, as well as songwriter Mark Sholtez, Out the Back of the House is the party invitation everyone says yes to. Heaving with vintage Southern rock vibes, the 8-piece band get loose, delivering all the feels of an intimate, spur of the moment party.

Mize says, “It’s a song about hanging out with the band, being a fly on the wall backstage at the music festival. It’s the greenroom vibe, the backyard BBQ, the beer run... when everyone gets real, let’s their hair down... it’s talking all shades of tall tales, of laughing, and of downing margaritas in the moonlight with your favourite people.”

The accompanying music video, which premieres today exclusively on Countrytown, was directed by the well-respected Jasmyn Smith. It features live footage recorded during the band’s sold out Tamworth Country Music Festival show.

Out the Back of the House features on their debut self-titled record. Released in May 2023, the album includes ten tracks including the singles Askin’ Enough, All Riled Up, Where Do We Go From Here? and Elevator Ride.

Before their debut release, two of the early singles (Elevator Ride and Out the Back of the House) went to #1 on the AMRAP radio charts, and All Riled Up scored the band a Queensland Music Award for best ‘Blues & Roots’ song.

The 8-piece country-soul and blues-infused band, the Rough N’ Tumble, are Jeremy Edwards, Mitch Power, Zac Watson, Andy Schrav, Steve Fearnley, Tristan Rogers and Matt Luff – each member chosen as much for their temperament and relatability as their indubitable musical acumen.
