Melbourne-based singer-songwriter, Kane Vincent recently released his latest romance track, Minute to Midnight from his forthcoming EP of the same name – and Countrytown has your first look at the accompanying music video in this exclusive premiere.

Minute to Midnight was recorded at Soggy Dog Studios in Upwey, Victoria by Steve Vertigan. Steve mixed the track, then sent it on to Ross Cockle at Sing Sing Studios for mastering.

Kane says, "Based on the grandest gesture of love I’ve seen firsthand, Minute to Midnight tells of a friend’s desperate effort to kiss her wife at the stroke of midnight, New Year’s Eve. Realising they’d been separated, she leaped off the balcony to get to her, breaking both her legs. Putting aside her own safety to declare her love is powerful but the but the strength and commitment to stand by her as she healed is astonishing. The moment broke them both, but the recovery has built an enduring love. Love is a choice. Every day we decide through our actions how we give and receive it. Sometimes the gestures need to be grand and selfless.”

Born and raised in Echuca, Victoria, Kane spent his formative teens living in the USA. Having played guitar for 25 years, Kane gave up his 'day job' to pursue music in 2017, quickly establishing himself as a cover artist with a bit of a difference.

His voice can evoke both the mournful longing of a Chris Stapleton ballad just as easily as the playfulness of a Randy Newman theme song and somehow it seems right. His tunes are a big chunk of country and a familiar nod to the blues, and his lyrics have a folk-pop sensibility with a soulful edge. Winning the 2019 Bruthen Blues and Arts Festival’s Jam Night was the catalyst to launch into writing and performing more original works.

At times raw and emotional while other times playful and joyous, his debut EP, I Don't Think So was released in February 2020. The title track is a quirky, knee slappin’ celebration of a breakup while others like Get Up or Get Back Home tell a darker tale.

After opening for Andrew Swift in 2021, Kane's name is now appearing on festival line-ups. As one of the winners of the 2022 Goulburn Valley Country Music Showcase, he will be performing at the Goulburn Valley Country Festival this weekend (April 10).
