More Marcus King More Marcus King

We were drawn to Marcus King’s Hard Working Man after watching the epic heist movie themed music video – but its infectious melody and his soulful singing had us hooked. It’s our Song of the Day!

The Quentin Tarantino inspired clip stars King as a hard-working man just trying to make an honest buck, who gets embroiled in a web of violence, motivated by money and a mysterious love interest.

King shared on social media, “It was such a great time making [the Hard Working Man music video]. The director, Justin Nolan Key was so easy to work with and really had a solid vision In mind. Having the band, crew and also my lovely wife to be in this video really made it such a wonderful memory!”

King’s upcoming Dan Auerbach-produced studio album, Young Blood, is slated to drop on August 26. The album will be his first project in more than two years, following his 2020 debut, El Dorado, which garnered him a GRAMMY Award nomination for ‘Best Americana Album’.

He recently released another of the eleven track Young Blood cut titled Rescue Me.

Regarding the track, King explained, “Rescue Me cuts a little deeper than the rest for me. This song is a literal cry for help, one of the least metaphorical tracks on the record and a memory that’s difficult to relive each night but is important to remember. This is also one of the first times I collaborated with our good friend, the amazingly talented artist/writer Andrew Gabbard.”

King was downright destined to play music. By eight-years-old, the fourth generation Greenville, South Carolina native performed alongside pops, grandpa, and his uncles for the first time. Logging thousands of miles on the road as The Marcus King Band, he established himself with unparalleled performance prowess and a dynamic live show.

In between packing venues on his own, he performed alongside Chris Stapleton, Greta Van Fleet, and Nathanial Rateliff with one seismic show after the next. Along the way, he caught the attention of Rick Rubin and signed to American Recordings.

King is currently on tour with headline dates across the US, UK and Europe.
