Front Deck Boom Box: Hudson Rose

30 March 2021 | 3:52 pm | Mallory Arbour

Rising country singer-songwriter, Hudson Rose shares the five songs she’s listening to for this week’s Front Deck Boom Box.

More Hudson Rose More Hudson Rose

Rising country singer-songwriter, Hudson Rose was given her first guitar for Christmas in 2016, and just three weeks later, she set off for the Tamworth Country Music Festival. It was at this festival, combined with a trip to see Keith Urban in concert, that she was hooked and set herself a dream of becoming a country music artist.

After attending the Junior Country Music Academy in 2019 and spending the next three years gigging up and down NSW’s Mid North Coast, the 18-year-old released her first single Never See My Cry, which debuted at no. 2 on the iTunes chart. Her latest single, One More Kiss is a fun, upbeat summer song about appreciating the little things in life, having dreams, enjoying every moment, and doing it with someone special.

We caught up with Hudson to find out what songs she’s listening to for this week’s Front Deck Boom Box.

25 Cents in the Ashtray – Katrina Burgoyne

I fell in love with this song as soon as I heard it. I think it sums up perfectly almost every country musician’s dream to move to Nashville and make a life from music, but also the reality of starting with virtually nothing. This song inspires me. With a little hard work and determination, you can make anything happen.

Head Full of Honey – Andrew Swift

This song is a such buzz! A fun, feel good tune about a certain someone being stuck in your head. Something everyone can relate to. I have always loved Andrew’s work but think this latest single is one of the best yet! The catchy melody and clever lyrics can’t help but get stuck in your head.

Lake House – Brad Cox

One of my favourite things about country music is the stories it tells. Brad’s songs are always filled with such emotion (something I love). I love this song in particular as it really feels like you’re on a journey with the character. I love the gentle, storytelling feel to the song.

Forever Begins Tonight – The McClymonts

I have always loved what the McClymonts do. They have been a major inspiration to me. I love their catchy melodies, beautiful lyrics and perfect harmonies. I have always said if I was to ever get married, this would be the song I would walk down the aisle to. I love the way the song builds and hold so much emotion in each line.

Breakups – Seaforth

This is the kind of song you turn on the car and cry like a baby to! There is something about Seaforth’s songs that makes you want to have them on repeat. They never get old. Just when you think they can’t get any better they release Breakups. I love the clever lyrics and the anticipation this song creates. This will always be a favourite of mine.
