Busby Marou have released their first taste of new music for the year. Everything is Beautiful is the Rockhampton duo’s first original release in over two years – it’s our Song of the Day!
Written by Busby Marou with Tom Eggert, Everything Is Beautiful was inspired by the pair spending some treasured downtime with their families and seeing the world through their children’s eyes.
Busby reveals, “It’s just like, ‘Wow, everything was great, always, when we were kids. Why are we so negative? Is it social media? Is it all the stuff that’s going on? What is it?’ But there’s an uplifting piece of hope in the feeling of the music, and in the lyrics, suggesting that maybe we can all be happy again.”
Thomas Busby and Jeremy Marou formed Busby Marou and released their debut EP, The Blue Road, in 2007. Since their 2010 self-titled debut album (which achieved gold status) to their third album Postcards from the Shell House, which debuted at #1 on the ARIA Album chart in 2017, they have had a combined 23.3 million streams. Their last album, The Great Divide (2019) reached the ARIA Album Top 5, as did their second release, Farewell Fitzroy (2013).
The duo has been nominated for three ARIA Music Awards, seven National Indigenous Music Awards, two AIR Awards and have taken home three of their seven APRA Award nominations – ‘Blues & Roots Work of the Year’ for Biding My Time (2019), ‘Blues & Roots Work of The Year’ for Best Part Of Me (2018) and ‘Most Performed Blues & Roots Work of the Year’ for Over Drinking Over You (2021).
Busby Marou has toured with Cold Chisel, Elton John and Guy Sebastian. They are currently on tour with Kasey Chambers and will support Midnight Oil on their final RESIST tour shows.
