The Country Drop Playlist ProfileThe amazingly strong female tracks just keep flowing this week with so many great Aussie artists also grabbing the mic with some world-class stuff. Let’s jump in!
Tori Forsyth – Dear Me
Hands down today’s drop of Tori Forsyth’s Self Preservation album is a red-letter day for Australian music. The record is everything a world-class record should be. Every song is incredible and I’m happy to label it the best Australian album I’ve heard so far this year. Possibly the best album of the year full stop, but I’ll leave that kind of hyperbole until after another hundred listens. The shame of album releases in 2026 is that most of the tracks had already been let wild, but the joy of listening to it from beginning to end is a weekend treat for everyone. Lucky for us, with an album this strong Tori still had some treats up her sleeve and Dear Me is every bit as good as anything that’s come before it. Calling the album a concept record would be doing a disservice to an album that’s simply an album exploring Forsyth’s human journey. Exactly what every great album that’s made for art rather than radio should be: even when it should be all over the radio too.
Lainey Wilson – Kinda Love It
A breezy slice of pop-country that is classic Lainey, Kinda Love It comes complete with na-na-na singalong and is the perfect weekend tune right now.
Chase Matthew – Started From The Holler
Chase Matthew loves to bend genre and push country to the edge and this dark pop-country tune is a great addition to a discography that’s pretty prolific. The eighth song to drop so far this year after his Aussie visit in May, Chase isn’t slowing down anytime soon.
Dear Tommie – Buffalo
What is it with incredible Australian females pushing the boundaries of country? Dear Tommie is described as “cinematic Mid-West country” and this amazing track absolutely fits that description. She wrote and produced Bella Mackenzie’s track Cowboy and has been getting her festival chops up with Strummingbird, Groundwater and now CMC Rocks this coming March.
Maddie Font – When A Woman Stops Crying
The Maddie half of Maddie & Tae, this is just her third solo track. After the duo went their separate ways in 2025 fans have gladly lapped up her solo tracks and we think this takes it to a new level for her. If this is indicative of what we can expect from a solo album we’re in for a treat. Incredible lyrical depth that leaves us eager to see what emerges next.
Kip Moore – Dyin’ On The Vine
Australia loves Kip Moore and this one is an incredible new track. Channeling artists like Eric Church and curiously just six months past the release of his last album, Kip is certainly taking advantage of his independence from a label. He’s releasing what he wants when he wants and if the songs keep flowing like this, we’re here for it.
Max Jackson – FGL (Me & You)
Max Jackson is back! This analogy linking a relationship to the renowned implosion of Florida Georgia Line has Jackson pondering getting back with a lover given the band managed to get over their differences. She’s been teasing this one for a few weeks now with fans guessing everything from a tour with FGL to a collaborative song. Turns out it’s ABOUT the band rather than with them. But who knows in the future? If anything’s going to get their attention, this will. Well played Max!
Logan Mize – Park the Truck
Mize’s album Cottonwood Falls hit today and it’s a record worth a listen. Park the Truck is a great gateway tune to get you into the record. Surely it must be about time for a trip to Australia?
Katie Jayne – Beer & Broken
Loving this honky-tonkin’ bouncer from Katie Jayne. Once again, an artist not resting on their laurels after dropping an album earlier this year (which hit #3 on the ARIA Country Charts no less), if this is a new era, we’re here for it! While it’s an upbeat jam, Beer & Broken is actually about Katie Jayne’s sobriety journey, making the track an even more incredible listen. Read about it here.
Josie – 10-4
Hailing from Charters Towers, Josie emerged in 2023 and had five singles in reasonably quick succession hit six figures on Spotify. She’s played a bunch of festivals and continues as a rising star, and this track will only enhance that journey. A huge step up for an artist demanding to be heard.
