The Country Drop Playlist ProfileIt’s only one day before Halloween and this week’s playlist is spookily good! We lead with HARDY this week, whose four-tracker out today is a real masterpiece. Nathan Lamont steps it up this week too with a cracking new tune, and there are eight more bangers to get your head around as well. No tricks… all treats!
HARDY – By God
It’s only a few weeks since the song of the year, Man In The Box, dropped and HARDY’s back with four more that individually could have been lead singles in their own right. This gospel tune is a fantastic indicator of the breadth of his talents, but if you want a real treat this weekend, delve into the other three tunes too, particularly the closing track, Tommy Made The News, which will make you think more than any track—at least since Man In The Box.
Nathan Lamont – Like We Used To
We spotlighted Loves To Hate Me in June, and Nathan Lamont has stepped it up yet again with this stomping pop-country gem. It feels like all the pieces are in place for him, and this one will sit comfortably next to any Nashville tune this week.
Kaitlin Butts – The Bartender
Tulsa-born Kaitlin Butts has dropped her album today and it’s a really accomplished set, worth your time this weekend. The Bartender is the pick of tracks seeing the light of day for the first time today from the record. It’s hard to stand out with so many amazing female artists right now, but she’s definitely doing just that. Check out our chat with her here.
Mackenzie Carpenter – Be Alright (The Beer Girl Anthem)
You didn’t think you’d get through a Friday without a new beer song, did you? Mackenzie Carpenter has this week’s… This one includes Jesus, jeans, and tractors, so what more could you want for a weekend on the deck? Crack a Coors and let’s go!
Koe Wetzel feat. Stephen Wilson Jr – Hard Way
With Jaded a former Countrytown Hot 50 #1 and still kicking around the top 10, it’s also album day for Koe Wetzel, and it’s hard to go past a collaboration with the amazing Stephen Wilson Jr. It’s a country-rock highlight from the record and well worth its place in this week’s list. Wait for that crunchy guitar breakdown.
Alex Mather – Might Be Crazy
Sydney singer-songwriter Alex Mather used to be part of Sony boy band Darling Brando, but has since gone back to his country roots. This one showcases his vocals and is a great song to showcase his chops. More please!
Lady A – Bigger Picture
The unmistakable harmonies of Lady A are back, and this gorgeously understated track Bigger Picture will have you feeling all the feels.
The day before we went into the studio to finish up our next record, this song was sent to Hillary. We felt its message so deeply and knew it needed to be on the next record, so we cut it the next day,” said Lady A’s Dave Haywood. “Then, a week later, we learned of Charles’ cancer diagnosis. God’s timing in allowing this song to find us and the message behind it is truly carrying us right now. We can’t help but think there are more people who might need to hear it too. We trust there’s a bigger picture.
Jake Banfield – Ghost Town
Great new track from Jake Banfield, but let’s be real: we put this on for Halloween. We know that’s why it came out this week, but we’re happy to dress as a skeleton and fall for it.
Fanny Lumsden – Summer Mountain Moon
It’s album week for Fanny Lumsden and this is a great tune to highlight. The Countrytown exclusive limited-edition vinyls are on their way, so congratulations to the lucky few who managed to snap them up!
Carter Faith – Still The Sparrow Sings
Carter Faith is starring in the Netflix film Heartland and has contributed this beautiful acoustic track to the soundtrack. Sometimes you don’t need to be hit around the head by a track that makes you want to line dance. Sometimes you want to sit on the side of the bed, close your eyes, and just listen. That’s this song.
