Wouldn’t be a Friday without taking a swig, so might as well kick it off with this new drop from Dustin Lynch’s Clean Slate album. He’s got the formula, and he’s not afraid to use it.
Rachael Fahim – Our Funeral
We featured Rachael Fahim’s banner year in this feature earlier in the week, and she’s just added to the list of achievements with this accomplished tune that builds on the success of her Who You Are album. It was only May that it dropped, so a brand-new tune so soon after proves this is not an artist letting the grass grow under her feet.
Kane Brown feat. Shania Twain – Boots
A true genre chameleon, on this one, Kane Brown is leaning heavily back to his country roots, dropping a banger that will no doubt be sweeping the world of line dancing clubs in quick succession. The addition of all-round legend Shania Twain just adds to the awesome quotient.
Jackson Dean feat. Laci Kaye Booth – The Moon And The Wolf
The world realised that with the retirement of CD singles, we were missing the art of the B-side, so the “deluxe edition” of albums a few months later with some bonus tracks was invented. The difference is that instead of a rushed studio outtake or a remix nobody asked for, these new records are delivering some great material. This bonus track tacked onto the In Full Bloom edition of Jackson Dean’s Magnolia Sage album is definitely worthy of its time in the sun.
Denvah – Better Weather
Denvah had a great run on Australian Idol but has been a little quiet in more recent times. This week that all changed, however, with the announcement of her signing to EMI and the drop of this amazing new single Better Weather. Acknowledged by those who’ve seen her as one of Australia’s best live country acts, we can’t wait to see what happens next.
Justin Moore – Missing You Night
Arkansas local Justin Moore headed to Nashville in 2002 to make it big, and after over a dozen Billboard Country Airplay #1s, it’s safe to say he’s made an impact. This breezy slice of radio pop is another crowd-pleaser that’ll have you singing the hook right through the weekend.
Kassi Ashton – Chrome Party
Moving to Nashville for university and overcoming thyroid cancer, Kassi Ashton signed to Universal in 2017. She’s toured with Keith Urban and Maren Morris and dropped her debut album in 2024. This new single is a nice slice of alt-tinged country and comes with a great animated video.
Duncan Toombs – I Go Home
A stalwart of the local industry and respected guitarist, Duncan Toombs dropped his debut album in 2023 and promptly hit #1 on the ARIA Country charts. He nabbed two Golden Guitars and is now back with this accomplished shuffle that’ll sound as at home on the radio as it does at the pub.
Dylan Scott – Girl From Louisiana
Dylan Scott’s distinct baritone wraps nicely around this uptempo bounce. It’s about time we had him down for some Australian shows.
Jayne Denham – Gotta Believe It
Ballads don’t come much bigger or more powerful than this. Jayne Denham is one of the hardest-working women in showbiz, with relentless shows, six albums to her name, and never afraid to experiment. This one deserves your time for its sheer ambition. It’s a big '90s-style ballad reminiscent of Aerosmith or Def Leppard, which is no surprise as it’s produced by Marti Frederiksen, who has worked with both bands. It’s not trying to be on-trend or conforming to one genre—it’s just trying to be big and awesome. Tick and tick.
