CountryTown is proud to announce Canadian country artist, Dan Davidson, as our Artist Of The Week!
CountryTown is proud to announce Dan Davidson, as our Artist Of The Week, following the release of his new single, Warm Beer.
Davidson started his career playing in well-known Canadian indie rock band Tupelo Honey. He spent over 10 years with the band and together they had several top 40 hits, top selling iTunes records and toured with bands like Bon Jovi. Davidson also served as a songwriter and producer for other Canadian artists during this period, as part of his partnership with Red Brick Songs.
Before deciding to dedicate his efforts to country, Davidson had a heart-to-heart talk with Dallas Smith, whose career path in the industry – first as lead singer of alt-rock band Default and later as a successful country artist in his own right – was similar to his own.
Inspired, Davidson began pursuing a career in country music in 2014, and released his debut solo single, Unkiss Her the following year. His father had introduced him to artists like Willie Nelson, Lyle Lovett, Johnny Cash and Blue Rodeo as a child, so country was always there.
His second single Found (co-written by Clayton Bellamy of The Road Hammers) rocketed up the charts and he became the #1 charting indie artist in Canada. It was also the #1 selling Canadian country song for several weeks. Found featured on his debut EP Songs for Georgia.
While on tour with Brett Kissel in 2019, Davidson’s EP Juliet was released, and debuted at #1 on the Canadian iTunes Country charts. The release was later nominated for ‘Roots Album Of The Year’ at the 2019 CCMA, and won ‘Producer of the Year.’ In total, he has since scored 6 CCMA nominations, 10 ACMA awards, a gold record and a #1 selling Canadian song and record.

Davidson released his single Roll With It, featuring The Road Hammers, in Australia in 2021. On his first international release, he surprised the Canadian and Australian music industry by nearly going top 10 (peaking at #11 on the Countrytown Hot 50 Country Airplay Chart). His second Australian release, Really Shouldn’t Drink Around You featuring Hayley Jensen debuted at #7.
His recent release 6 Songs To Midnight debuted at #1 on the iTunes Country charts, and in the first week was noted to have 750,000 streams. It also saw the EP focus track, Blindspot, achieve more great radio results in Australia, ahead of the release of new single, Warm Beer.
Davidson said about Warm Beer, “This is the beer garden banger I’ve always wanted to release. It’s a little bit of Texas-style, drunken poet country; and a little bit of that classic anthemic sing along! I’m so proud of how clever, yet simple, this one came out!”
Davidson is heading to Australia for the first time in October, for Groundwater Country Music Festival on the Gold Coast. The line-up also features Fanny Lumsden, Travis Collins, Brooke McClymont & Adam Eckersley, Catherine Britt, Kirsty Lee Akers, Kaylee Bell and more!
