CountryTown in partnership with iHeartCountry Australia is proud to announce Morgan Evans as our Artist Of The Week, following the release of his new EP, Country And The Coast Side A.
Evans began his career in high school, playing in a local band. Following his Road To Tamworth win in 2017, which included flying to Nashville to record a single. He released his debut EP Big Skies later that same year. In 2012, he followed up with his second and third EPs, Live Each Day and While We’re Young, respectively.
The following year, he was named ‘New Oz Artist of the Year’ at the 2013 CMC Awards. After supporting artists like Taylor Swift and Thirsty Merc, Evans released his self-titled debut studio album in 2014, which peaked at number 20 on the ARIA Albums Chart, and won a further three CMC Awards including the coveted ‘Oz Artist Of The Year’.
He moved from his hometown in Newcastle, New South Wales to Nashville, Tennessee in 2016, which led to the release of his debut US hit single, Kiss Somebody. He also topped the charts with fan favourite track, Day Drunk, which spent 25 weeks in the coveted #1 spot in Australia. Both tracks hail from his 2018 self-titled EP and his ARIA Award winning studio album, Things That We Drink To.

His new six-track EP features the hit single, Love Is Real, which topped the Countrytown Music Network Hot 50 Country Airplay Chart for nine consecutive weeks.
Evans said of the recording process, “Whenever I go into a studio and the band starts playing, and a song goes from this acoustic idea to a full record basically straight away… that’s the closest to magic I think I’ve ever been around.”
To date, Evans has earned nearly 610 million global career streams and is currently touring the US on Brett Eldredge’s Good Day 2021 Tour. He has been married to fellow country singer-songwriter (and soon to be author) Kelsea Ballerini since 2017. Evans will headline CMC Rocks QLD alongside Brad Paisley and Kane Brown in September, 2022.
